My Millionaire Under 30 Plan
Coming from an immigrant family that just keeps their money in the bank, it seemed like there was not much to building wealth besides getting a good high-paying job or climbing up the corporate ladder. The immigrant background of my family prioritized education, going to university, and get that high-paying job. Luckily for them and for me, I actually enjoyed school and was pretty good at it to the point where they did not have to worry about me doing good in school. I was convinced that education was the path to building wealth, even though now I know that is not the case. I went on to the University of Texas at Austin to study Computer Science on a full ride, graduated, and got a software engineer job.
The Education Misconceptions
While attending the university, I noticed that there is a misconception about the promise education can from just going to college. Some students were just forced to go to college while others trapped.
First of all, not all students went to college for their own interests and passion. While I was fortunate to enjoy and pick Computer Science as my major, I did notice that some students went to the university just for their parents or were forced to study to become a lawyer, engineer, or to be a doctor…
